TRUE STORY OF ST. VALENTINE.

Bassey Nton Nton.

Valentine’s Day, or St Valentine’s Day, is celebrated every year on 14 February.
It’s the day when people show their affection for another person or people by sending cards, flowers or chocolates with messages of love.

Who was St Valentine?

The day gets its name from a famous saint, but there are several stories of who he was.

The popular belief about St Valentine is that he was a priest from Rome in the third century AD.

Emperor Claudius II had banned marriage because he thought married men were bad soldiers. Valentine felt this was unfair, so he broke the rules and arranged marriages in secret.

When Claudius found out, Valentine was thrown in jail and sentenced to death.

There, he fell in love with the jailer’s daughter and when he was taken to be killed on 14 February he sent her a love letter signed “from your Valentine”.

Having a particular Valentine’s Day is a very old tradition, thought to have originated from a Roman festival.

The Romans had a festival called Lupercalia in the middle of February – officially the start of their springtime.

It’s thought that as part of the celebrations, boys drew names of girls from a box. They’d be boyfriend and girlfriend during the festival and sometimes they’d get married.

Later on, the church wanted to turn this festival into a Christian celebration and decided to use it to remember St Valentine too.

Gradually, St Valentine’s name started to be used by people to express their feelings to those they loved.

Letter To The Weak And Helpless.

So today, I’ve decided to share a piece of my heart with all those who feel some kind of way, either you are being ill-treated or life hasn’t just been fair to you. You’ve prolly been abused verbally or talked down by the very same people or persons who was/ is supposed to help you rise or be the ladder to climb to your top.
To all those who’s been mocked,
To all those who’s been laughed at,
To all those who’s ego and self-esteem dropped at some point in their lives,
To all those experiencing different toxic behaviors,
To all those who’s almost given up on/ in life, I want you to always have in mind that God will never allow or permit a problem or situations bigger than you to overwhelm you, one thing He will never condone is for you to be disgraced or put to shame.

For all the times you’ve cried out your eyes out, you’ll shed tears of joy
for all the times you prolly had to be strong for yourself and be your own strength,God will carry you on eagles wings.
for all the times you endured evil, betrayal, maltreatment, you’ll surely enjoy the positives.
for everytime you’ve had to remain in your own skin and kill your voice, God will surely raise people that’ll be your voice.
for everytime you’ve had to hustle your way out of every journey at every step in life, God will raise an army of help that facilitates success for you.
God’s word is assuring you that at that very place, at that very city, at that very location you were challenged, God will deal severely with all those who have oppressed you, He will save the weak and helpless you and will give you glory and fame wherever you have been mocked and put to shame.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
